Annelies – an exciting musical project for Spring 2018

posted in: News | 0

Rutland Choral Society will shortly be starting rehearsals for a performance of Annelies – a full-length choral work based on the Diary of Anne Frank, written by British Composer James Whitbourn.

Originally performed in 2005, this moving piece brings to life the diary written by Annelies Marie Frank between 1942 and 1944 when she and her family hid in the back of an Amsterdam warehouse. The work takes her contrasting range of profound thoughts from this extraordinary diary and combines them with haunting yet beautiful melodies.

Rutland Choral Society will join forces with talented local instrumentalists and young soloists to perform this powerful work. Any local choral singers who are interesting in joining us for this project would be very welcome; we will be holding an initial ‘read through’ on Monday 18th December and rehearsals will then start on Monday 8th January 2018. ‘Annelies’ will be performed on 24th March in Oakham and tickets will be on sale in February.
